The SwitchCom Compact series is designed to control two PS/2 (Compact 2) or 4 (Compact 4) computers from a single keyboard, monitor and mouse. The very small size makes it ideal for environments where desktop space is limited.

The full keyboard and mouse emulation on all ports ensures that each computer will boot-up cleanly at any time, even if both computers are started together and even if no keyboard or mouse are attached.

Control of the switch is by a simple Hot-Key sequence on the keyboard. With the Compact 2 the identity of the selected computer is reported via the Scroll Lock light on the keyboard. The Compact 4 reports the selected computer via any one of 4 x green LED's on the front panel.

These units draw power from the keyboard lines of the attached computers and therefore no external power supply is required. It does not require both PC's to be on and can be fully powered by any single computer.

The unit and the user's keyboard, monitor and mouse may be hot-plugged without the need to power down any of the attached computers.

Connection to each computer is by a single all-in-one cable that separates into three colour coded connectors at the computer, for connection to the keyboard, monitor and mouse outputs.

The internal microprocessor provides comprehensive keyboard and mouse emulation which ensures compatibility with all operating systems.
